Early mornings, full trucks, fresh products, and always something to do. As a warehouse worker at Groothandel Claessens, the workday starts early. We follow Amar through a typical workday.

04:00 – The day begins

The alarm goes off. While most people are still asleep, Amar is already up and getting ready for his working day.

05:00 – Getting everything ready for a new day

When Amar arrives, the night shift is still finishing the last orders. Once they are done, Amar starts his first tasks of the day.

Bins are emptied, floors are cleaned and everything is put back in order. The warehouse and Cash & Carry are fresh, clean and ready to welcome a new day and the first customers.

06:00 – A round through the Cash & Carry

Time for a thorough check. Amar walks through the Cash & Carry to make sure all products look their best and that the expiry dates are in order.

Products that are running low are immediately restocked. Every item is placed neatly so customers can easily find what they are looking for.

07:00 – Doors open

The Cash & Carry opens. A quick coffee, and then Amar gets back to restocking and checking the products.

09:00 – The first truck arrives

The first truck arrives. After unloading, Amar checks the delivery and makes sure every product is put in the right place.

New products are correctly placed behind the stock from the previous delivery. This keeps everything organised and ensures proper product rotation.

11:00 – A short break

Time for a quick coffee break. And of course, no break is complete without a piece of fruit. Amar usually goes for an apple.

11:15 – More deliveries arrive

The trucks from the wholesale market and Rungis arrive. Another round of checks begins.

Deliveries need to be correct and every product needs to find its place. Amar keeps an overview and makes sure everything runs smoothly.

13:30 – The late shift arrives

The late shift comes in and takes over. Amar finishes his tasks and makes sure everything is ready for the next part of the day.

That way, the night shift can also get started smoothly later on.

14:00 – Badge out

The working day is over. Amar clocks out and heads home.

15:00 – Time for family

At home, there is another kind of schedule waiting. Time to eat, pick up the kids from school and do their homework together.

18:00 – Some time for himself

After a busy day, Amar takes some time to unwind. He puts on his sports gear and heads off for an hour of CrossFit.

21:00 – Lights out

The day comes to an end. Time for bed, because tomorrow the alarm will be ringing early again.
